Navo Legal
Safety Policy
Effective Date: April, 2026
1. Safety as a Core Value
The safety of our community — Hosts, Renters, and the public — is Navo's highest priority. This Safety Policy describes the standards we hold our users to and the measures Navo takes to protect the community.
2. Driver Safety Standards
All approved Renters must meet Navo's driving eligibility requirements (see Renter Agreement). Navo conducts driving record checks at onboarding and periodically thereafter. Renters who no longer meet eligibility standards will have their rental privileges revoked.
3. Impaired Driving — Zero Tolerance
Operating a rental vehicle while impaired by alcohol, cannabis, prescription drugs, or any other substance is strictly prohibited. This is a zero-tolerance policy. Renters found to have operated a vehicle while impaired will be:
- Immediately and permanently banned from the Navo platform.
- Reported to law enforcement where required or appropriate.
- Held fully liable for all resulting damages, costs, and legal fees.
- Excluded from any Navo protection or coverage programs.
4. Seatbelts
All occupants of Navo rental vehicles must wear a seatbelt at all times while the vehicle is in motion. This is a condition of every rental.
5. Child Safety Seats
Renters are responsible for providing and properly installing any required child safety seats in accordance with applicable law. Navo rental vehicles do not include child safety seats. It is the Renter's sole responsibility to comply with all child passenger safety laws in their jurisdiction.
6. Accident Response
In the event of an accident:
- Stop the vehicle and remain at the scene as required by law.
- Check for injuries and call 911 if anyone is injured.
- Do not admit fault at the scene.
- Exchange information with all involved parties.
- Document the scene with photos.
- File a police report if injuries, significant property damage, or hit-and-run are involved.
- Report to Navo through the app within 24 hours.
7. Vehicle Safety Recall Compliance
Hosts are required to check for and remediate any open safety recalls on their vehicles before listing them. The NHTSA vehicle recall database can be checked at nhtsa.gov using the vehicle's VIN. Listing a vehicle with an open safety recall is a violation of Navo's Vehicle Standards Policy and these Terms.
8. Threats and Violent Conduct
Any user who makes threats of violence or engages in violent conduct on or off the Platform against another user or Navo employee will be immediately and permanently banned and may be reported to law enforcement.
9. Weapons
Transporting unsecured firearms or illegal weapons in Navo rental vehicles is prohibited. Any Renter found to have transported an illegal weapon in a rental vehicle will be permanently banned.
10. Trip Monitoring
Navo may use GPS and telematics data (where available) to monitor trips for safety purposes, including speeding, hard braking, and geofencing violations. This data may be used in dispute resolution and safety investigations.
11. Reporting Safety Concerns
If you observe unsafe behavior by a Host, Renter, or other user, report it immediately through the Navo app or by emailing support@rentnavo.com. In an emergency, always call 911 first.
12. Background Checks
Navo performs identity verification and driving record checks on all Renters. Navo may also perform criminal background screening. Background checks are provided by third-party screening services; Navo does not guarantee their completeness or accuracy but uses commercially reasonable efforts to verify user eligibility.
