Insurance & Protection Policy
Effective Date: April, 2026
1. Important Disclaimer
Navo is a technology marketplace, not an insurance company. Any protection programs offered by Navo are not insurance policies regulated by state insurance departments. This document describes Navo's contractual protection offerings and is intended to supplement — not replace — personal auto insurance.
2. Navo Host Protection Program
Navo offers Hosts a contractual protection program during active, confirmed rental periods. Under this program:
- Physical damage coverage: Navo will facilitate reimbursement for documented, verifiable physical damage to a Host's vehicle caused by a Renter during an active trip, up to the vehicle's actual cash value (ACV), less any applicable deductible.
- Deductible: A Host deductible may apply per incident as disclosed at onboarding.
- Theft coverage: Covered in the event of theft during an active trip, subject to a police report and documentation requirements.
2.1 Exclusions — Host Protection
Host protection does NOT cover:
- Damage occurring outside an active trip period.
- Normal wear and tear, mechanical failure, or pre-existing damage.
- Damage resulting from a Host's own negligence or misrepresentation.
- Damage caused by an unauthorized driver.
- Damage to third-party property or third-party bodily injury (covered separately).
- Diminished value claims.
- Loss of income during vehicle repair.
- Damage occurring during a prohibited use.
3. Third-Party Liability — Renters
During active, confirmed trips, Navo provides or facilitates third-party liability coverage for Renters as required by applicable state law. Coverage limits are disclosed at booking and are subject to applicable exclusions.
3.1 Exclusions — Renter Liability Coverage
- Operation of the vehicle by an unauthorized driver.
- Operation under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Prohibited uses (see Renter Agreement).
- Intentional acts.
- Commercial livery use.
4. Renter Protection Plans
Navo may offer optional Renter protection plans at checkout that limit a Renter's out-of-pocket exposure for vehicle damage. These plans:
- Are contractual products, not insurance.
- Do not cover third-party injury or property damage.
- Do not apply if a prohibited use violation is established.
- Must be selected before the trip begins; they cannot be added retroactively.
5. Your Personal Insurance
Renters: Your personal auto insurance may extend to rental vehicles. Contact your insurer to confirm. Some credit cards also provide rental protection.
Hosts: Personal auto insurers may deny claims related to peer-to-peer rental use. Hosts should obtain a commercial or rideshare-compatible policy, or a policy specifically designed for car-sharing Hosts.
Navo strongly recommends consulting an independent insurance agent before listing or renting a vehicle.
6. Claims Process
To file a damage or liability claim:
- Report the incident through the Navo app within 24 hours.
- Provide photos, a police report (if applicable), and any other requested documentation.
- Navo's claims support team will review and facilitate resolution.
- Resolution timelines vary; Navo does not guarantee specific timelines.
Navo acts as a facilitator of claims and does not guarantee the outcome of any claim.
By using Navo, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Insurance & Protection Policy.
