What is Navo?
Navo is a peer-to-peer car rental marketplace built in Chicago. Hosts list their personal vehicles for rent and renters book them directly. Unlike traditional rental companies, every car comes from a real owner in your neighborhood. Navo is not-for-profit: hosts keep 95% of every trip, and the 5% Navo retains funds infrastructure and continuous improvement.
Do I need an account to browse?
No — you can browse listings, view photos, and check pricing without signing up. You only need an account to send a booking request, message a host, or list your own car. Sign-up takes about a minute with email or a social provider.
How old do I need to be to rent?
You must be at least 21 years old to rent on Navo, and you must hold a valid (non-expired) US-issued driver’s license. Some hosts may set higher age requirements for specific vehicles (typically luxury, sport, or larger vehicles) — those are clearly noted on the listing.
How do I verify my driver’s license?
Go to your profile and click “Verify License.” Upload a clear front-of-license photo plus a selfie for the identity match. Our team typically reviews submissions within 24–48 hours. You’ll get a notification the moment it’s approved — you can’t complete a booking until verification is approved.
My license was rejected — what now?
Common reasons: blurry photo, glare on the laminate, expired card, or the name on the license doesn’t match the name on your profile. Open the rejection notification to see the exact reason, fix the issue, and re-upload. There’s no penalty for re-submitting.
Where does Navo operate?
Navo is launching in Chicago first — city, suburbs, and the surrounding metro area. We’re expanding city-by-city. If you don’t see cars in your area yet, you’re welcome to create an account and we’ll let you know when we go live near you.
